Participate in the splendor of the natural world of the Low Country during the peak of land bird migration, when indigenous wildflowers are in splendid bloom.
Wake up at Sea View Inn to the sound of the surf stitched through with the liquid calls of Purple Martins, rollicking song of
Carolina Wrens and medley of imitations from Sea View Inn's resident Mocking Bird.
Take coffee to the wide porch overlooking the Atlantic to look for Ospreys fishing in the sea, Painted Buntings and Ground Doves in the dunes.
Walk out on Sea View's dock into the salt marsh to search for Egrets and Herons, resplendent in breeding plumage, and nestling Clapper Rails while listening to Red-Winged Blackbirds and BoatTailed Grackles as they announce breeding territories on Pawley's Island.
Migrating shorebirds congregate on the beach, testing our ability to call their name.
Terns of several species will be courting and diving over the ocean.
Coastal breeding birds will be in full song: Summer Tanager, Hooded Yellow-Throated and Porula Warblers.
Admire wildflowers indigenous to coastal South Carolina with such evocative names as Passion Flower, Pitcher Plant, Atamasco Lily, Pipewort, Lizard's Tail and Glass-wort.
The famed Brookgreen Gardens provide an excellent place to study and know native wildflowers featured in their natural gardens.
