Ian Sanchez

Ian Sanchez was born to parents from Barbados and has close ties to the Lowcountry. Since 1999 he has done a variety of environmental education and outdoor recreation work as a kayak guide for Coastal Expeditions, a Naturalist on the Bull Island Ferry, scuba diver for the SC Aquarium, volunteer for the turtle research program for US Fish and Wildlife Department, a river guide for Charleston Parks and Recreation, and the Executive Director of the Lowcountry Environmental Education Program. He has created a number of outdoor programs and has recently completed a kayak expedition from the mountains to the Sea of South Carolina where many students learned about the ecosystems by following it on a map from their classrooms. He continues to encourage experiential education in order reconnect people to nature.
