Artists' Workshop
6th Annual Fall Pawleys Island Artists' Workshop
Sunday, October 25 - Friday, October 30, 2008

(5 nights)
Instructor: Karen Galleher

The workshop begins Sunday evening as students meet to get acquainted and go over the week’s schedule.  Each day will be structured with a demonstration/lesson/art-stretch challenge, afternoon plein air session, free time and evening critique.  The outdoor locations will vary with points of interest unique to the Low Country of South Carolina.  Sea View Inn will provide a live model on a rainy day.

KAREN GALLEHER has been painting for more than thirty years.  She developed her own painting signature of stylized impressionism in portraiture, landscapes, and fantasy.  Her work is featured in a number of galleries and is found in prestigious art collection

s in the United States, Europe and Asia .  She has her own definition of “gifted and talented.”  She strongly believes the gift is the energy and desire, that talent blooms in proportion to the amount of time spent on creative development, and that most people do not develop their innate ability to draw and explore color.  She discovered a few years ago that she is energized by sharing what she has learned about drawing, composition, and painting techniques.

You can visit the Premier Gallery's website to learn more about Karen and her gallery located at the Hammock Shops in Pawleys Island or you can contact Karen via email

Materials List

Easel – I recommend a French easel for al fresco if you can work one into your budget.  It provides storage for paints, brushes, etc. and is easy to carry.  However, any easel which fastens the canvas top and bottom will do.

Palette and Palette Box for oils – 12 x 16 recommended

Winsor Newton’s Liquin

Tote Bag – Make it large enough to carry the palette box and your canvases.

Canvases – I think one for every day not to exceed 16 x 20” because of

the wind factor.   Canvas boards will suffice.
