Columbia, SC

There are main 2 ways people from Columbia go:
1) Take 378 to 261, through Wedgefield and Pinewood to Manning. Then take 521 through Greelyville and Andrews to Georgetown.  Follow Hwy 17 north through Georgetown, to Pawleys Island. Take a right at the Exxon Hot Spot and you'll dead end at the beach.  Turn left and Sea View Inn will be on your right.

2) I prefer to go 378 to 527 through Sardinia to Kingstree and on to Andrews. (You are on 41 for a short hop from 527 to Andrews.) In Andrews, pick up 521. The reason I prefer this one is because you stay on the Sumter Highway (378) longer and I feel the 4 lane road is safer than the 2 lane ones.

When you get more ambitious, we can talk about the BBQ places in Kingstree and Manning for the folks who won't make it in time for lunch!

Richmond, VA

We have no better sense than to take the back roads to Pawleys because it breaks up the monotony of I-95. So, I'll tell you our way and a saner way in addition.

The Fun way from the Holy City of Richmond is: I-95 South to Four Oaks, NC. Take Route. 701 thru Clinton, Elizabethtown, Whiteville, Tabor City to Conway. At Conway, take the road to Socasstee over to Route 17 to Pawleys Island. Turn left at the light at the BP Gas Station in Pawleys Island. Dead-end at the beach and turn right. Sea View Inn is 4 light poles past the Pawleys Island Chapel.

A sane person  would do I-95 all the way to the cutover near Florence, then Conway, and then Georgetown via Route. 17. At Georgetown, you would head back up to Pawleys on Hwy 17.

Wilmington, NC

I just follow #17 South. I do take the new road that by-passes Myrtle Bch, Hwy 31, then I get back on #17. I think it is the way that they tell you on the internet, because I printed it up for a friend going down to check it out over the weekend. That by-pass cuts off about 15-20 minutes of my trip!
